With a reputation that extends beyond its borders, Royal Spice is often heralded as the best Indian restaurant in the area, drawing loyal patrons from nearby Barnsley too.

“ Great Sunday buffet and very fair price. Can’t be beaten in the area for price and selection available. ”
“ 6* *FIRST VISIT* Came here without a reservation and thankfully they had a table free which is a good thing since just after we arrived it got VERY busy, every table booked. This is without a doubt the best Indian food I've had in years, to say I was impressed is an understatement. The staff were friendly and helpful even though it got very busy. The food, though, was stunning, absolutely faultless, every starter and mains we had was gorgeous. Prices a little over average but worth every penny. This is definitely the best Indian in Wakefield and the best I've had anywhere in years. I'd highly recommend it but make sure to book to avoid disappointment. *Third visit* went for my birthday, group of 13, booked well in advance. The place is still the best Indian restaurant in Wakefield. We all had an amazing time.Food, Service and Prices were still brilliant. Special thanks to Ali who went above and beyond.Much appreciated. *Fourth visit* still gorgeous food, great service and good prices. ”
“ Thank you for patiently explaining the gluten free options over the phone (there are many). Our first take away from you and it was very tasty, staff were professional and friendly. I see us being repeat customers here, Royal Spice beats all of the local competition. ”
“ Friday evening and our first visit , friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. We had popadoms, pickle tray and mixed starter for two , all looked and tasted fresh , we had chilli King prawn and chilli chicken with excellent chapattis, the rice portion was the smallest we've ever seen. We did order chilli dishes but the strength was more like vindaloo ! but still tasty and enjoyable. The beer was a bit of a let down , they only had bottles (Cobra) and they needed to be cooler , would have preferred draught Cobra. After we had finished eating the place was getting really full and the service slowed right down , we waited ages but no warm hand towel and nobody to bring the bill , had to stand at the bar and wait to pay , you could feel the stress levels rising. We would definitely return as the food was excellent but maybe mid week when it's less busy. ”
“ We have visited the Darton branch for the last 10 years and only recently found out about the Wakefield one! Both local and both 10/10. Lovely food, lovely lads and lovely interior! ”
